In the Moment

Living in the moment

STOP. NOTICE. BREATHE.

What a year we had! Aotearoa New Zealand is a land that just keeps giving. A year of travelling from the very top to the very bottom – and a bit more – gave us the chance to experience the vastness, beauty and warmth of this place. We made new friends, caught up with old ones, visited with family and spent time being alone in isolated spots where you feel so very insignificant in the grand scheme of things. We both feel truly blessed to have been able to travel so slowly through Don’s homeland, savouring each day – even if there was torrential rain, frustration with each other due to living in a 6m long tin can for a year, brilliant sunshine or snow. Now back in the UK, we will continue to try and live ‘In the Moment’. In these new pages/posts/blogs, we will reflect on the places we visit, times we love and the importance of finding joy in small things.

Please continue to join us as we enjoy being, ‘In the Moment’.

All too often, we rush around not noticing. Life is short. Far too short to not notice.

So: Stop. Notice. Breathe.

And in the words of Cookie Monster:

“Today I will live in the moment. Unless the moment is unpleasant. In which case I will eat a cookie! Or two or three!”

  • Florence – cafe culture & secret passageways

With a multitude of places to eat and drink, you are spoiled for choice. We chose to visit Rivoire https://rivoire.it/ an historic cafe/chocolate shop. Goodness me what a treat – hot chocolate so thick that the biscuit you get with it stands up by it’s self! Hand stitched tea bags. It is a place of…

  • Florence – A man called David

Now there is nothing that quite prepares you for the awe & wonder that you experience when you first see David. There are questions that I imagine we all have about any major piece of art regardless of what or where it is: How big is it, will I be able to see it properly,…

  • Florence – Santa Maria Novella

This was a return visit for me, but a first for my oldest friend. We had finally managed to plan our trip to Florence and what a trip it was! Ok, so the weather wasn’t as sunny as we’d hoped it would be but no rain at least. Flying over the Alps was a wonder,…
