We drove down the east coast of the peninsula, it’s very different from the west coast. Our day was spent waiting. Waiting for low tide. Waiting to find hot sand with our toes. Waiting to dig. There is a stretch of sand about 50-60m long on this stunningly beautiful beach where there are pockets of hot water which escape to the surface. Everyone digs a hole in the sand to create a hot water pool. If you haven’t got your own spade, you can hire one for $10. The water, with a temperature as hot as 64 °C filters up from two underground fissures!! Of course, in my head, there is a lava pool beneath my toes! It is really easy to get burnt by the water. One pool was actually steaming! As you can see, it’s a very popular place…
