In the Moment

Cambridge

No. Not THAT Cambridge but Cambridge NZ – horse country. This town is lovely. There is a street where champions have their names in brass on a special paving slab. So many sports – a great deal of horse and rowing names. There are also tiled pavement pictures of famous horses, horse statues and a really tranquil memorial square. We stayed on something called a POP which are Park Over Property – spaces owned by individuals or companies that you pay a small amount for. This POP is rather special – Cambridge Racecourse! We discover that first thing in the mornings, they train the buggy race horses – at 8am, we are trackside with 2 very tasty flat whites from the coffee shack behind the grandstand! We also discover, that there was going to be greyhound racing later in the day. We make the spontaneous decision to stay and watch! I have never seen dog racing so this will be a first…there may have been a bet or two.
