Our trip continues along a VERY twisty, windy, up & down road which takes us to three places that cause us to oohhh and ahhh and OMG again and again. SH37 is the road the just keeps giving!
Mangapohue Natural Bridge is like a cathedral. You follow a stream through a limestone gorge to a 17m natural arch, the last remains of an ancient cave. We felt very small!
Piripiri cave is a fabulous cave where you decend down steps to a plaform from where you can get a great view of stalagmites and stalactites.
Marokopa Falls. These 43m high falls are regarded as one of the most beautiful in NZ. You hike down through native bush to a viewing platform, where your breath is duly taken away! Yes it certainly is beautiful! If you fancy it, a VERY muddy clamber takes you to another platform for a different view.
After an hour of more VERY twisty turny road, we leave Waikato and are now in Taranaki.
